Weights and Measures

A small number of standardized wooden and stone weights and measures survive that were in use within living memory. The Hukumnama of Linga Rajendra Wodeyar, a series of edicts issued in 1811CE has an order dedicated to the use of weights and measures, with the instruction that respective weights be marked on stones, iron rings be set in them along with the inscription of the Palace seal upon them. A final instruction states that only these official weights and measures were to be used in the nads, Palace farms and markets.
