Vintage wooden press for making chakkuli, a savoury deep-fried snack popular across several cultures, made of rice flour, gram flour and spices kneaded into a dough. Chakkulis are eaten at tea time, offered to visitors and served as snacks at weddings in Kodagu. Later versions of Chakkuli waras in brass or stainless steel developed multiple interchangeable discs to create different shapes.
